Douglas Dale Goforth

Born March 27, 1953 in Ellington, MO to Woodrow and Elsie (Black) Goforth; he married Carla Burger on July 15, 1972 in Morton, IL. She survives of East Peoria.

Also surviving are his son, Joe (Dianna) Goforth of East Peoria; grandchildren, Isaac and Susie Goforth; brother, Larry (Linda) Goforth of Lincoln, IL; and sister, Jan (Jeff) Runyon of Carlsbad, NM.

Preceding in death were his parents; brothers, Paul, Danny, Woody Jr, and Leonard Goforth; and sister, Joanne Mathis.

Doug was a sales and service technician with Eco Lab for many years, retiring in 2015. In retirement, he enjoyed driving a school bus for East Peoria District 86 for several years.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Monica Catholic Church in East Peoria.

Doug was a proud father and grandfather who enjoyed taking care of his family. He liked to go camping, play tennis and read. He also loved cars and traveling with favorite vacation memories of Key West, FL.

His personal motto was “Live and Let Live.”

Doug’s life will be celebrated with a memorial service at 3:00 PM Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria with visitation one hour prior to the service. Private inurnment will be at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.

Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
