E. Marie Shriver

E. Marie Shriver, 91, of East Peoria, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at River Crossing of East Peoria. She was born on January 21, 1930 in Chicago, a daughter of Glen C. and Leola (Hall) Burrows. She married David L. Shriver on March 1, 1948 in Salem, AR and they were married for 66 years. He preceded her in death on March 18, 2014 in East Peoria.

She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Marie is survived by her two daughters, Karen (Fred) Schmidgall of East Peoria and Danette (Stan) Sipka of Creve Coeur; four grandchildren, Christopher (Erin) Schmidgall of Valparaiso, IN, Craig (Jennifer) Schmidgall of Mackinaw, Brad (Jaime) Wheeler of East Peoria, and Gene (Britany) Gibson of Forsyth; 10 great-grandchildren, Charles and Jacy Schmidgall, Phillip, David, and Samuel Schmidgall, Grace and Abigail Wheeler, and Jacob, Tucker, and Chase Gibson; and one sister, Mildred Harrison of Morton.

Marie was a long-time member of the former Faith United Methodist Church in East Peoria. She loved spending time with her family and going to their games and activities. Marie enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially gardening, camping, and traveling.

Marie's funeral service will be at 1:00 pm Monday, January 17, 2022 at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Rev. Daniel Lybarger will officiate. Her visitation will be from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm also on Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Roberts Cemetery in Morton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the JDRF or the St. Jude Memphis to Peoria Run.
