Herbert R. Wilson

Herbert R. Wilson, 82, of Spring Lake, passed away at 4:20 pm on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Morton Terrace Care Center. Herbert was born on November 8, 1930, in Bonnie, IL to Tandy Denver and Velma Juanita (Throgmorton) Wilson. He married Emmie Lou Bart on April 1, 1950 and they had three children together. She preceded him in death on November 30, 2012. He also was married to Theresa Jane Burns of Bloomington in 1989 and she also preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Doris Jean Standerfer and one son, Michael Lee Wilson. Surviving is one sister, Brenda (Larry) Stonecipher of Springfield, IL; one brother, Frederic (Karen) Vallowe of McLeansboro, IL, two of his children, Linda (Dale) Wixson and David (Sandie) Wilson both of East Peoria; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; four neices, nephews, and five great-neices, and brother-in-law, Ernest Standerfer. Herbert was a graduate of Mount Vernon Township High School in 1948 and worked at Caterpillar Inc. for 30 years, retiring in 1978. He was a good father who had an infectious smile and was liked by most. He made new friends at Morton Terrace Care Center where he had lived for the past four years and spent time with his new family the caregivers at Morton Terrace, where he was well cared for. A funeral service will be on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 1:30 pm with visitation one hour prior to the service at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria.
