James Gibbs

  He was born November 6, 1922 in Peoria, IL to William E. and Lena (Leacher) Gibbs.  He married Betty Jones on August 31, 1948 in East Peoria.  She died November 22, 2005 in Edwards, IL.

  He was also preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, one brother, and two grandsons.

  Surviving are his children, Cathy (Richard) Holcomb of Boaz, AL, Edith (Noel) McMullin of Edwards, IL, James E. (Linda) Gibbs of Peoria, IL, Karen (Phil) Steenbergen of Bellevue, IL; one sister, Virginia Garey of Pekin, IL; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.

  Jim was a WW II Marine Corps veteran.  He was a member of the Limestone American Legion Post #979.

  Jim retired in 1982 from Caterpillar as an inspector after 30 years of service.  He also farmed all his life in the surrounding area.  He enjoyed wood working and building things in his spare time.

  There will be no services.  Cremation will be accorded.  Remmert Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
