
Jim was born on April 4, 1925, in Forrest City, Ark., to James T. and Eva J. (Moon) Joyner. He married Betty Starks on Oct. 25, 1949, in Corinth, Miss. She preceded him in death on May 12, 2010.
Jim is survived by his children, Jerry (Mary) Joyner of McKinney, Texas, John (Regina) Joyner of Carmel, Ind., Bob (Susan) Joyner of New Lenox, Ill., Janet Ridgely of Washington, Ill., and Linda (Jason) Lehn of Sartell, Minn.; and two grandchildren, Kayla Ridgely and Allison Ridgely-Thomas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; his parents; three brothers; two sisters; and two infant sisters.
After serving in the United States Navy, James worked for Caterpillar, retiring in 1986.
He was a member of Dayton Avenue Baptist Church in Peoria.
Services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Dayton Avenue Baptist Church. The Rev. Jim Richardson will be officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Burial will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
Memorials may be made to the Dayton Avenue Baptist Church.
