He was born July 12, 1941 in Creve Coeur to Clarence and Elsie (Jung) Evans. He married Angela Hosbrough May of 1966 in Pekin. She survives along with three children: Tim (Tamara) Evans of East Peoria, Jerry L. (Lisa) Evans of East Peoria, Tara (Tim) Riggs of Owasso, OK, eight grandchildren: Cameron, Casey, Caleb, Connor, Rebecca, Jameson, Lawson, Emerson, and two brothers: Donald (Dottie) Evans of Chillicothe, and Paul (Jill) Evans of Peoria.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Leonard Evans and one sister, Beverly Smith.
Jerry was a United States Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War. Following his time in the military, he worked for Caterpillar, Inc for almost 50 years in the Foundry in Mapleton.
He was a member of St Monica Catholic Church in East Peoria and was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 5, 2025 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. A Funeral Mass will be Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 11 a.m. at St Monica Catholic Church in East Peoria. Additional visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church.
Burial will be in Fondulac Cemetery with Military Honors.
