John O. Redshaw

Born November 2, 1923 in Spring Valley, Illinois to Ervin Lyle and Lena Mae (Burris) Redshaw; he married Madge Young on March 23, 1944 in Greenville, South Carolina and she preceded him in death on March 22, 2012. Also preceding him in death was his sister Marjorie.

Surviving are his children, Sandra (Richard) Richardson of East Peoria, John (Kristen Carlsgaard) Redshaw of Hovland, Minnesota and Craig (Stephanie) Redshaw of Peoria; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brother Lyle (Margaret) Redshaw of Granville, Illinois; and sister, Hazel May Giering of Pendleton, Indiana.

John was a pipe fitter working at Caterpillar Inc and retiring in 1982 after 36 years of service.

He was a WWII Navy veteran serving as a Machinist Mate 1st Class on a destroyer escort the USS Kendal C. Campbell in the Pacific Theater.

He was a cornerstone member of the First United Methodist Church of East Peoria.

John loved hunting, fishing, dancing and traveling.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at the Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. The Rev. Wayne Halbieb will officiate. Burial will follow at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home.
