Larry Joe Bonds

He was born on January 12, 1943 in Earle, AR to Clinton and Winnie (Mills) Bonds. He married Crystal Yates on July 12, 1968 in Peoria. She preceded him in death on September 3, 2016. Also preceding him in death were his Parents; 2 sons, Donny Allen and Clinton Bonds; a grandson, Don Don Allen; granddaughter, Tiffany Allen; and two siblings, Bobby Gilmore and Mary Jane Austin.

Surviving are his three children, Angela Bonds of East Peoria, Kerri (Mike) Bonds Straker of Creve Coeur and Larie (Ashley) Bonds, of East Peoria; nine grandchildren, George, Chris, Crystal, Kaleb, Taylor, Ethan, Josiah, Katelyn and Chance; six great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and siblings, John (Linda) Haynes of East Peoria and Myrine Fleming of Peoria.

Larry served in the U.S. Marine Corps for two years and then in the U.S. Army for 28 years, reaching the rank of First Sergeant before retiring. Larry served two tours in vietnam, receiving two Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star and many medals and ribbons. He was a member of The Journey Church in East Peoria, American Legion Post, VFW, AMVETS and Past Commander of The Military Order of the Purple Heart.

Larry enjoyed fishing, riding horses, watching old westerns daily and playing cards. After retiring, he spent most of his time helping fellow veterans in any way he could. He was involved with many military organizations.
