

He was born June 20, 1950 in Peoria to Ramon and Lovell (Shaw) Franks. He married Linda Crawford on May 25, 1991 in Groveland. She survives along with two daughters: Trisha (Isaac) Anzaldua of Mapleton, Tami (Kelsey) Lickiss of Marquette Heights, four grandchildren: Jordan, Savannah, Chloe, and Shelby. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren: Amirah, Kamillah, Halen, Rowan, one brother, John (Sharon) Franks of Texas, and two sisters: Sharon (Mike) Dirst of East Peoria, Cindy Wilson of East Peoria, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Leonard worked for Caterpillar, Inc as a machinist for 33 years retiring in 2003. Following retirement, he owned and operated DuraSpray bed liners in East Peoria with his brother/best friend for seven years.
He enjoyed riding his Harley, attending motorcycle races, watching NASCAR, and spending time with family and friends. Sunday was his special day for Church and NASCAR with his brother John.
He was a lifelong member and trustee of the East Peoria Mennonite Church. More recently, he was also in a small group with friends from Grace Church for the last 15 years.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Visitation will be Thursday, September 11, 2025 from 2 to 4 p.m. followed by a Memorial services at 4 p.m. at Grace Church, 1325 E Jefferson St, Morton, IL. Remmert Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
