Marguerite "Marge" Mathews

She was born July 13, 1926, in Peoria to Roy and Dorothy (Miller) Frietsch. She married George E. Mathews on April 5, 1953, in Pontiac, Ill. He died April 28, 2006, in East Peoria.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and half brother, Roy Arthur Frietsch.

Surviving are her daughter, Carol (Terry Royer) Sparks-Royer of East Peoria; half sister, Carol (Ronnie) Schenck of Bartonville; half brother, Ernie (Pat) Frietsch of Peoria; two grandchildren, Marcus (Tiffany) Sparks of Morton and Megan (Joe) Bieze (Sparks) of East Peoria; and one great-granddaughter, Morgan Sparks of Morton.

Marge worked many years for Block & Kuhl, which became Carson Pirie Scott. She later worked for Caterpillar Inc. in the purchasing department, where she retired from.

She was a member of Cat Retirees Club.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday, June 9, 2011, at Remmert Funeral Home. A graveside service starting at 11:30 a.m. will be held at Fondulac Cemetery following the visitation on Thursday. The Rev. Richard Springsteen will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to OSF Hospice.
