Marlyn J. Winder-Hooker

She was born April 7, 1933 in Galesburg, IL to Glenn and Ferne (Smith) Carroll. She married Acie Winder on January 26, 1952 in Moline, IL. He preceded her in death April 7, 2007. She later married Eugene Hooker on February 14, 2021 in East Peoria. He preceded in death on July 30, 2022. Also preceding her in death were her parents; two sisters, Joy and Martha; three brothers, Robert, Richard and David; and two great-grandchildren.

Surviving are her four children, Cindy (Ron) Stewart of East Peoria, Connie (Rodger) Hillier of Clearwater, FL, Jerry Winder of Morton, and Shelly (Ed) Grundy of Washington; eight grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Simmons and Annette (Al) Caldwell both of Beaumont, TX.

Marlyn worked in the Banking Industry for many years at various area banks. She was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in East Peoria. Marlyn was active in the Widows Group and A.C.T.S. Bible study at the church, and enjoyed playing the piano at the church and at area nursing homes. She loved to listen to Gospel Music and spending winters in Florida.

A visitation will be from 6 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at Remmert Funeral Home. A funeral service will be at 11 am with visitation one hour prior to the service, on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in East Peoria. Pastor Paul Hinzman will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
