Oletha Esther Young

Oletha was born on February 22, 1916 in rural Pekin, IL to Benjamin and Anna (Huser) Eller. She married Frank B. Young in 1938. He preceded her in death in 2000.

Oletha is survived by her daughters, Judith (Ernest) Young of Fort Wayne, IN and Helen (Gary) Barnett of Marietta, GA; her four grandchildren, Darren (Becky) Young of Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, Timothy Barnett of Marietta GA, Steve (Melissa) Barnett of Alpharetta, GA and Rebecca Myers also of Alpharetta, GA; and four great-grandchildren, Jenna and Audrey Young and Colin and Gemma Barnett. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; her parents; and her three sisters, Matilda, Ruth and Hazel.

Oletha was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She attended Bethany Missionary Church in East Peoria, where she was involved with the WMS. She was also very involved in the Caterpillar Retiree’s Club. Oletha loved to play the piano and she enjoyed crocheting, knitting and working with stained glass.

Services will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at 1:30pm at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria with visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. H.B. Mooney will be officiating.
