Paula N. Ames Shumaker Diseker

Pekin – Paula N. Shumaker Diseker, 68, of Pekin, IL passed away Sunday, November 24, 2013 at O.S.F. St. Francis Medical Center. She was born March 5, 1945 in Jacksonville, IL to Paul and Bonita (Jolley) Ames. She married Millard “Mel” Diseker in Groveland, IL.

Paula was a Registered Nurse and head floor nurse for Timber Creek Nursing Home in Pekin, IL. She was a nurse 24/7. During her career of forty seven years as an R.N., Paula went to Northwestern University and Bradley University where she obtained two Masters Degrees. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Grotto in East Peoria.

Paula loved to spend time with family and friends. Her hobbies included ceramics, garage sales, and watching her grandkids play sports.

Surviving is her husband Mel of Pekin, IL, son Leonard Shumaker of Groveland, IL, daughter-in-law Teresa Shumaker of Morton, IL, four grandchildren; Paige Shumaker, Haley Shumaker, Brandon Bland, and Connor Shumaker, sister Charlotte Kramer, nephew Bryan Kramer, and niece Chris Kramer all of Morton, IL. Paula was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Doug Kramer.

Services will be held at 7 pm Monday, December 2, 2013 at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria, IL. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 pm Monday at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded.
