

He was born on December 9, 1932 in Jonesboro, AR to Preston K. and Mae E. (Owens) Ferrell. He married Carolyn S. Coleman on October 9, 1955 in Monmouth, IL.
Surviving is his wife of 66 years, Carolyn of Pekin; their two children, Teresa (Frank) Harmon of Creve Coeur and Robert Preston (Cindy Chemotti) Ferrell of Fillmore, CA; four grandchildren; Amanda Brasher of Creve Coeur, Heather (Mike) Harmon-Kennedy of PA, Jeremy Brasher of Marquette Heights, and Logan (April) Harmon of Morton; and five great-grandchildren, Jordan Brasher of East Peoria, Logan Brasher of Marquette Heights, Keira Brasher of Creve Coeur, Maddox Kennedy of PA, and Lily Harmon of Morton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Brenda Brasher, one brother, Harold Ferrell, three half-brothers and four half-sisters.
Bob served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and worked for Caterpillar Inc for over 40 years, before retiring in 1997. He was a life time member of the Masonic Lodge in Peoria, a life time member of the D.A.V. and a 32 year member of the American Legion Post 983 in East Peoria, where he served as a Post Commander. Bob was also an avid HAM Radio Operator, call number N9LFD, but known to his friends as Short Pockets.
Recently Bob enjoyed watching old Westerns on T.V. His window at home overlooked a lake providing quiet entertainment. He and his wife could watch ducks and geese swim and they had a great view of amazing sunsets.
A funeral service will be at 6:00 pm on Thursday, May 5, 2022 with visitation one hour prior to the service at Remmert Funeral Home. Cremation will follow the service.
