She was born on May 11, 1924, in Los Angeles, CA to Harry and Ruth (Gibbs) Williams. She married Thomas Vane Goodspeed on May 29, 1949, in East Peoria, and he preceded her in death on September 19, 1967.
In addition to her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Thomas Richard Goodspeed; 1 sister; and 3 brothers.
Shirley is survived by her children, Marilyn (Ed) Boore, Laurie (Tim) Bailey, and Guion (Teri) Goodspeed; 5 grandchildren, Chad (Danna) Boore, Andrew (Heather) Boore, Cathy (Andy) Jensen, Ann (Charlie) Koerner, and Danielle (Eric) Miller; 8 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Shirley enjoyed traveling the world with her sister Barbara, and playing cards. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, served as an election judge, and enjoyed participating in senior activities with the Fondulac Park District, and the East Peoria Women’s Club. In earlier years, she was active in the Caterpillar Chorus.
Cremation has been accorded. Memorial services will be held at 11AM on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Remmert Funeral Home. The family will greet friends an hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the Fondulac Park District Seniors Program. Remmert Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
