Velda Orene Taylor

East Peoria – Velda Orene Taylor, 85, of East Peoria, IL passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Fondulac Rehabilitation and Health Care with her family by her side. She was born June 15, 1931 in Repton, KY to Norval and Velda Aline (Hinchee) Tabor. Velda Orene married Floyd A. Taylor on December 29, 1951 in Sunnyland. Surviving are her two daughters; Debra (Dennis) Zimmerman of Pekin and Karen (Kevin) Heinz of East Peoria, three grandchildren; Trisha (Gary) Bush of Pekin, Brad (Liz) Zimmerman of South Pekin, and Bethany Zimmerman of Pekin, six great grandchildren; Isaac and Taylor Whitehall, Jeremiah Bush, and Liam, Vaughn, and Isla Mae Zimmerman, and her two sisters; Jean White and Joretta Elms. Velda was preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandmother who raised her, and her sisters Maxine Shroeder and Dorothy Johnson. Velda worked at Cohen’s Furniture Store in Peoria and Joyner’s Upholstery in East Peoria. Her hobbies included her love of music and singing, crocheting, camping, and playing softball in the church league. Velda was a former member of the Creve Coeur Southern Baptist Church. Services will be held at 10 am Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Remmert Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 pm Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Fondulac Cemetery.
