Creve Coeur, IL– Wilbur F. “Van” Heflin, 88, of Creve Coeur, passed away at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Proctor Hospital in Peoria.
He was born May 31, 1924 in Iuka, IL to Hershel Raymond and Maudie Rosalie (Eddings) Heflin. He married Mary Glenna Raffety in Springfield, IL on Feb. 7, 1957. She preceded him in death on Oct. 15, 1995. He was also preceded in death by his parents and brother.
Surviving are 3 children, Beverly Trout, Michael (Barbara) Heflin, James Heflin; 5 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Van was a US Navy WWII veteran. He was a former member of the American Legion. He worked at Caterpillar Inc. for 36 years, retiring on Jan. 1, 1983. He was a former member and treasurer at Richland Southern Baptist Church in East Peoria.
Private Services will be at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Burial with military honors will be at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
