Charles O'Neal Bishop

Charles O'Neal Bishop, age 87, of East Point, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2014. He was born on December 16, 1926 to Lee Eugene Bishop and Verona Bertha McBrayer. He graduated from Russell High School in 1944. He spent 3 years in the U.S. Coast Guard. He earned a Bachelor of Laws from Woodrow Wilson College of Law in 1954. Mr. Bishop worked for Delta Airlines for 42 years as Manager of Consumer Affairs. He belonged to First Baptist Church of Atlanta since 1982 where he served as a deacon and as a volunteer with Pastoral Care for 13 years. He was an avid golfer until he was physically unable to play. Survivors are his wife of 65 years, Claris S. Bishop and son Stewart D. Bishop (Mari). Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 24, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Historic Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home, 2968 East Point St., East Point, GA 30344. Entombment will follow at Westview Abbey. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-4 pm at the funeral home.
