Dorothy Morris

Dorothy Baxley Morris ( Mrs. Claude H. Morris), age 91, of Woodstock, GA and formerly of Union City and East Point, GA died as result of a stroke on September 3, 2013. She was born October 6, 1921 in Blackville, SC. Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Claude H. Morris of East Point, whom passed away in 2002 at the age of 83. Mrs. Morris was a lifelong homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Originally from South Carolina, Mrs. Morris spent most of her adult life in East Point where she was a long- time member of The Jefferson Ave. Baptist Church. Mrs. Morris is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-laws, Marlin and Elaine Morris of Woodstock, Ken and Tricia Morris of Marietta, and daughter and son-in-law, Terri Lynn and Mike Ross of Duluth; eight grandchildren: Kim M. Taylor, Matt Morris, Greg Morris, Jason Long, Kristie Long, Michael Morris, Jack Morris, and Kensley Morris; 12 great-grandchildren; and special niece, Gloria Baxley Cannon of Stockbridge. Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 6, 2013 at 11:00 am at Historic Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home 2968 East Point St., East Point, GA 30344. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until service time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jefferson Ave. Baptist Church, 1150 Jefferson Ave, East Point, GA 30344
