

Mr. Phillips was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on March 6, 1933, son of the late Kress L. and Gladys Stewart Phillips. Prior to moving to Kennesaw, he had lived in Mentor, Ohio and Mableton, Georgia. He was of the Baptist faith. He was an honor graduate of Georgia State University and a veteran of the United States Navy. He retired as a Vice President of Distribution and enjoyed several years as a business owner.
Those fortunate enough to know Harry, describe him as an incredibly genuine, charming, and witty man. He was unforgettable to those who met him and positively impacted the lives of everyone around him. His sense of humor will be the trait that everyone who knew him will cherish forever. Each person that he met can tell a “Harry story”. His love of the game of golf was shared with many as he enjoyed teaching the game to others. He also loved to listen to Gospel music and complete Brain Works puzzles.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy Tyson Phillips and a son, Paul Thomas Phillips.
Survivors include a brother, Kress L. (Phil) Phillips and his wife Diane of Douglasville, GA; a son, Patrick E. Phillips of Rome, GA, and a daughter, Cynthia Phillips Liebhardt of Mentor, Ohio.
Proud grandchildren of Mr. Phillips are Chris T. Phillips and his wife, Kimberly of Savannah, Ga.; Janna P. Kennedy and her husband, Josh of Leesburg, Ga.; Crystal K. Rivera and her husband , Jose of Cleveland, Ohio; Chad S. Phillips of Rome, Ga.; Heather Kushner of Bowling Green, OH; Patrick Liebhardt and Briana Liebhardt of Mentor, Ohio.
Great Grandchildren of Mr. Phillips are Chad (CJ) Phillips Jr.; Haley Phillips; Nathan Verenakis; Colton Phillips; Ella Phillips; and Maddox Rivera.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, May 14, 2010 in the chapel of Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home, East Point, Ga., followed by interment at Brooks Memorial Cemetery in Brooks, Georgia.
The family will receive friends at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home on Friday, May 14, 2010, from 11:00am – 1:00pm, preceding the service.
Pallbearers are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 12:30pm and include: Chris Phillips, Chad Phillips, Randy Neal, John Larrimore, Josh Kennedy and Brian Liebhardt. Honorary pallbearers include Patrick Liebhardt and Jacob Langham.
Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to Hospice Atlanta, Hemophilia of Georgia, or the ALS Association in the memory of Harold S. Phillips.
