Betty Jewell Tate

Betty Jewell Tate, 92, of Ooltewah, TN passed away Thursday, January 19, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was a member of Jones Memorial United Methodist Church and the Pioneer Sunday School Class. Betty had been employed with Sears for over 40 years working in the credit department and in sales. She was a devoted mother and “Nana” and loved her family. She also loved to shop, travel and going to her church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Grady Marion Tate; parents, Clarence Kelley, Sr. and Daisy Hall Kelley; two brothers, Clarence Kelley, Jr. and Robert Kelley.

Survivors include her children, Mike (Sharon) Tate, Sandra (Randy) Mansfield and Cindy (Frank) Phillips; sister, Joann Tillman; brother, Kenneth (Marian) Kelley; five grandchildren, Allison Tate, Bryan (Ashley) Tate, Chris (Sarah) Albert, Melanie Mansfield and Seth (Megan) Phillips; twelve great-grandchildren, Jacob, Charley Grace, Jesse, McKenzie, Maddy, Saydee, Harlem, Gavin, Harper, Jaxon, Odin and Maggie; several beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2-5 PM Sunday, January 22, 2023 at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road. Funeral services will be held at 5 PM Sunday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Bill Belva officiating.

Burial will be at Chattanooga National Cemetery at 10:30 AM Monday, January 23, 2023.
