Bobbie June Holmes

Bobbie June Holmes, 88, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on August 25, 2018. She was surrounded by her loving family when she left her earthly realm. Bobbie was a devout Christian and lifelong member of Avondale Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, and family caregiver. Bobbie graduated from Central High School in 1948. She later went on to the McKenzie Business College. Bobbie worked as a secretary/bookkeeper, ending her career at Oakwood Baptist Church. She loved to travel, and traveled extensively throughout the U.S., Europe, Russia and Australia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby E. Holmes, parents, W.C. “Red” and Edna Thornburg, and brother, William C. “Bill” Thornburg, Jr.

Left behind to cherish Bobbie’s memory is her son, Steven (Diane) Holmes, Harrison, TN., grandchildren, Jill (Kevin) Smith, and Brad (Autumn) Holmes, both of Chattanooga, great-grandchildren, Madison and McClain Holmes, and Kagan and Corrina Smith and a sister-in-law, Madalyn Thornburg.

A Celebration of Bobbie’s Life will be held graveside at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday August 28, 2018 in the Lakewood Memory Gardens East with Rev. Wayland Stewart officiating the service.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to her caregivers at Martin Boyd Christian Home for 5 years of excellent love and care. In lieu of flowers the family would request that memorial contributions in her memory be made to Martin Boyd Christian Home.
