He was retired from Life Insurance Company of Georgia and was a baseball coach in the Dixie Youth League for several years. He will be greatly missed by family, church family, friends and coworkers. The family would like to thank the staff of NHC Chattanooga and Hospice of Chattanooga for their kind and loving care.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Lela Vaughn; three brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Janice Simmons Vaughn; son, James Michael (Pat) Vaughn; daughter, Carla Vaughn (Marty) Samples; one sister, Helen Vaughn; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Monday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Minister Jim Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South. The family will receive friends from 2-6 PM Sunday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road, East Ridge, TN.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Greens Lake Road Church of Christ 1209 Greens Lake Road, East Ridge, TN 37412.
