He was a devout Catholic and was a member of OLPH Catholic Church. He graduated high school from Notre Dame. Daniel worked for and retired from Combustion Engineering where he was a welder.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Potts Merriman, father, D.P. Merriman, Sr., mother, Margaret Daniel, grandchildren, Greg Rittgers, Jr., and Ryne Rittgers, and a son-in-law, Greg Rittgers Sr.
Left behind to cherish Daniel’s memory are his children, Joan (Stuart) Kammer, Patty Merriman (Vickie Long), Kathy Rittgers, Betsy (David) Groves, and Maggie Merriman (Roxanne Swenson), several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sisters, Judy Parker and Margie Pendergrass.
A Celebration of Daniel’s Life Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday February 3, 2021 at 11:00 am with Father Mike Creson officiating at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. He will be laid to rest with his beloved wife, Joan in the Mount Olivet Cemetery.
We respectfully request that all current mandates set forth by the CDC and the Hamilton County Health Department be adhered to. This includes “social distancing” and wearing masks at all times while on the premises.
In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions in Daniel’s memory be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Dr, Chattanooga, TN 37416.
