Doris Wells

Doris Higdon Wells, 89, of Ringgold, GA passed away Thursday, June 9, 2016 in a local hospital. She was a member of East Brainerd Baptist Church and the Fidelis Sunday School Class. Doris worked hard all of her life running an industrial sewing machine at several saddlery companies in the area. She was raised in the Vulcan and Mt. Olive areas of Lookout Mountain and loved telling stories of the hard times and funny times she had growing up. She was a wonderful cook making many holiday dinners roasting our turkey in a paper sack. And that dressing! Magnificent!

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bertha Johnson Higdon and William Earl Higdon; husband, Tom Wells; brother, Bobby Higdon and sisters, Margaret Weathers and Helen Kelley.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Pamela (Max) Pierce; granddaughters, Summer (Jared) Hawkins and Amanda Pierce; great-grandson, Ethan Hawkins; many friends and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Monday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road with the Rev. Mickey Bane and the Rev. Lamar Hulvey officiating. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-8 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
