She was the daughter of the late Isaac and Emma Davis and was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Denzil L. Darby and three brothers, Fred, Jack and Charles Davis.
Dorothy was co-owner and operator of Darby’s Grocery and was a member of East Ridge United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl (Jack) Cawood and Jan (Lyle) Rhodes; four grandchildren, Bobby (Angie) Rhodes, Shelaine (Brian) Morrison, Brent (Misty) Jeno and Jeff (Connie) Rhodes and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 5, 2012, in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Burns officiating. Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m., Sunday, June 3, 2012, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga or to the American Kidney Foundation.
