

Edna Mae Harris, 92, of East Ridge, Tennessee, passed away March 19, 2021, surrounded by her family. She was born in a log cabin in Ringgold, Georgia, to Virgil and Ollie Freels Barger. As a young girl, she was a champion tennis player, played basketball, and excelled in badminton and horseshoes. After she married, she and her husband, Birdie, medaled in bowling in the Tennessee Senior Olympics, and she continued to bowl well into her 80s. Edna enjoyed gardening and yardwork and was known to grow "already stuffed" bell peppers in her garden.
She was preceded in death by her adoring husband, her parents, her step-mother, Rachel Ingram Barger, twin newborn sons Lynn and Glenn Harris, sister Helen Barger Sanders, brothers J.R. Goodner and Ronnie Barger, and baby brother Jesse Barger.
Edna is survived by her daughters, Sharon Greene and Connie (Mike) Clark, grandchildren Alicia Clark (Justin) Burgett, Zachary (Caitlin) Greene, Chase Clark, and Tyler (Morgan) Clark, and great-grandchildren Caleb, Ian, and McClain Burgett, and Harris and Grayson Greene, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held graveside on Tuesday, March 23, at 3:00 pm at Hamilton Memorial Gardens. There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Galactosemia Foundation or a charity of your choice.
We respectfully request that all current mandates set forth by the CDC and the Hamilton County Health Department be adhered to. This includes “social distancing” and wearing masks at all times while on the premises.
