Fred Gilbert Rorex, 84, of Chattanooga passed away Sunday, December 15, 2013 in a local hospital. He was a Master Barber for 55 years and owned Tiftonia Barber Shop. Fred was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1950 – 1952.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Clinton Rorex and Alice Chance Rorex and two brothers, Ed and Joe Rorex.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Melba Peoples Rorex; children, Michael Rorex of Natchitoches, LA, Sissy (Mark) Mishkel of Cumming, GA, J.J. (Starla) Rorex of Wildwood, GA and Tim (Nancy) Rorex of S. Pittsburg, TN; four grandchildren, Amanda, Kaitlyn, Brady and Anthony; one sister, Edna Faye Machen of Hollywood, Alabama.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Tuesday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road. Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, West.
The family will receive friends from 4-9 PM Monday at the funeral home.
