Gail was born on March 27, 1940, in Wise County, Virginia to the late Bonnie Anne Seaver Banner and Georgia Marion Banner. Gail was the adored youngest child in a family of three brothers and three sisters.
Gail grew up in Gate City, Virginia and Kingsport, Tennessee. In her twenties, she moved to a residential group home owned by Orange Grove in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where she worked in Orange Grove’s Industrial Training Center for many years. As an older adult, she moved to Spring City, Tennessee, where she lived in a group home owned by Quality of Life.
Gail had a rich and fulfilling life, with frequent visits to her large family in different parts of the country and back home again in Tennessee with Orange Grove and Quality of Life, where she was a particular favorite of her staff family and fellow residents. She endeared herself to all with her one-of-a-kind personality. She was equal parts loving, feisty and, most of all, funny. To the end of her days, she was a person of grit and resilience, and all of these qualities never left her.
She was preceded in death by brothers Marion Wayne Banner, Donald Lawrence Banner, and Frances Eugene Banner, and sister Doris Jean Banner Dezell. She is survived by sisters Jo Banner Banks and Anne Seaver Banner Greene, and many nieces and nephews who cherish her memory.
There will be no formal services held for Gail, however in her memory memorial contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to Quality of Life, 24595 Rhea County Highway, Spring City, TN 37381.
The family would like to thank her caregivers at Orange Grove and Hearth Hospice, and her wonderful family at Quality of Life in Spring City, for their committed and compassionate care.
