Mr. Brookens was born and raised in Lansing, Michigan. He retired from BOC in Lansing, Michigan as a tinsmith. After retirement, he moved to Georgia. Gale was a member of First Lutheran Church where he served as an elder, and volunteered for Meals on Wheels in Catoosa County.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Leora Brookens;
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Ann Brookens; children, Pamella (Scott) Sebring, Patricia Hall, Polly (Dan) Boettcher, Peggy (Danny) LaPoint, Jr. and Bradley (Becky) Brookens; 11 grandchildren; 9 ¾ great-grandchildren; niece, Penny Unger-Brookens; 7 step-grandchildren; 7 step great-grandchildren; brother, Lyal (Christine) Brookens; and several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at First Lutheran Church (2800 McCallie Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37404) with Rev. Donald N. Welmer officiating. Visitation will be from 12 Noon to 1 PM at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Lutheran Church – Organ fund.
