

Gayle Wooten, age 70, of Chattanooga went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, March 28, 2012. She was born on May 23, 1941, daughter of the late C. Sam Tate and Blanche Lawson Tate. Gayle graduated from Central High School in 1959. Gayle and her husband, Gene owned and operated Silk Originals of East Brainerd for over 20 years. She was a former member of Eastdale Methodist Church.
Preceded in death by parents, C. Sam Tate and Blanche Lawson Tate; brother, Paul Morris Tate.
Survived by loving husband of 46 years, Gene Wooten of Chattanooga; daughter, Connie(David) Wetter of Murfressboro, Tennessee; grandson, Daniel Wetter; twin sister, Sandra(Ben) Steele of Flat Rock, Alabama; brother, Sam (Berniece) Tate of Chattanooga; sister, Lee Ann (Bobby) Parker of Chattanooga; nephew, Jim Tate and great nephew, Fletcher Tate all of Chattanooga; sister-in-law, Ruby Gurney of Chattanooga; many cousins and extended family.
The family expresses their appreciation to Gayle’s special caregivers, Mary, physical therapist with Guardian Home Health, Natasha and Angela with Preferred Care at Home of Chattanooga.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 31st at 11 AM at Lakewood Memory Gardens East with Rev. Dale Lovelady officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
