Geraldine Rawlings Hester, 105, of Chattanooga departed this life Wednesday, April 29, 2015, in a local healthcare facility. She was born September 27, 1909, in Dalton, Georgia, to the late John Thomas Rawlings, Jr. and Mary Virginia Burns Rawlings.
She graduated from Central High School in 1926, attended business college, and was employed for many years at Circular Letter Advertising Co. and The Letter Shop, retiring at the age of 80. She was a member of Northside Presbyterian Church (formerly Central Presbyterian Church).
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert H. Hester; brother, Weldon Rawlings; and sisters, Elizabeth Lowery, Johnnie Allen, and Katherine Broome.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Helen (Walter L.) Walker; grandchildren, Neal Walker, Eric (Michele) Walker, Greg Walker and Myra Canady; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 4, in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Dr. Paul Rader officiating. Burial will follow at Chattanooga Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, May 3, at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home 404 S. Moore Road.
