Gussie Mae Vinson

Gussie owned and operated Gussie’s Beauty Shop on Browns Ferry Road in Tiftonia, TN for 30 years. She had many clients she loved and who loved her. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was one of the best southern cooks you would ever meet and loved to make special meals for her family and friends. Because she was unable to leave her home for the past six years, she loved for her sisters to visit and play canasta, and was very good at beating them.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, O. J. Vinson, her parents James and Tennie Middleton, five brothers James A., Conage, D. C., Jack and Robert Middleton, two grandsons Eddie Wayne Vinson and Gary L. Vinson II.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children Velma (Ted) Shinn, Wayne (Betty ) Vinson, and Gary Vinson; five grandchildren, Karen Shinn, Kim Hartley, Ted (Kristen) Shinn Jr, Nikki Vinson, and Bobby (Tammy) Babb; four great-grandchildren, Amber Hartley, Lauren and Megan Shinn, Aaron Vinson, Jeremy Ethan Walker; one great-great-grandchild Madeline Pate; five sisters Ruby (Billy) King, Ann (Watchie) Peoples, Jimmie Cooper, Shirley Campbell and Barbara Knight, one brother Jay (Ruth) Middleton, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the East Brainerd Chapel with Rev. Steve Middleton officiating.

The family will receive friend Tuesday from 3:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, West.

Pallbearers will be her nephews.
