Jack G. Owens passed away on February 24, 2026, at the age of 73. He was born on March 24, 1952. A resident of East Ridge, Tennessee. Jack will be remembered for the way he could turn an ordinary moment into something worth laughing about—and for the unmistakable spark he brought wherever he went. After this introduction, “Jack” feels too formal; if you knew him at all, you know he was simply Jack, the humorous, lighthearted, life-of-the-party kind of man who never met a room he couldn’t warm up.
Jack worked for Claude Owens Flooring Company and later took the reins of his own lawn service, Lawns Plus, which he owned and operated for over 10 years. He also worked with Miller Industries for several years until his retirement. Whether he was on the job or off the clock, he had a way of doing things with personality—often with a grin, and sometimes with a story that somehow got funnier every time it was told.
Jack loved to ride motorcycles and enjoyed the freedom of the open road. He also considered himself a real “ladies’ man,” a title he wore with the same playful confidence he brought to everything else. And if you ever wanted to find him on game day, just follow the sound of someone passionately defending the Atlanta Falcons and the Atlanta Braves—teams he cheered for faithfully and saw in person many times.
A member of Morris Hill Baptist Church, Jack valued his community and the people who made life richer simply by being part of it. More than anything, he will be remembered as a loving father, brother, uncle and friend—someone whose great sense of humor made others feel welcome, included, and a little more cheerful than they were before.
Jack is survived by his children, Ashlee Owens and Aaron Owens; his brothers, Corky (Judy) Owens and Mark Owens; his nephews, Rick and Jeff Owens; several cousins; and many dear friends.
A Celebration of Jack’s Life will be held in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Saturday March 7, 2026, at 2pm. The family will receive friends 1-hour prior beginning at 1pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jack’s name can be made to the Chattanooga Alzheimer’s Association (www.Alz.org).
