Jo Evelyn Cooper

Jo Evelyn Cooper, 74, of Chattanooga died Thursday, July 11, 2013. She was born May 17, 1939 in McMinn County, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her father Lake Rowland and her daughter Tammy York. She was a member of First Centenary United Methodist Church and was active in the Missionary Ridge Garden Club, Shepherd Hills Community Club, Strength for the Journey, and the Women’s Circle, First Centenary United Methodist Church.

One of her greatest joys after retirement was traveling, she and her husband toured all fifty states, every Canadian Provinces, several countries in Europe, Central America, South America, Africa, Asia and Australia. They had a trip to Ireland scheduled for July 22, 2013.

Survivors include her husband Billy C. Cooper of Chattanooga, sisters Sammie Jean Albritton of Delano, Tennessee and Carolyn (Arlie) Givens of Chattanooga, brother Larry (Evelyn) Rowland of Riceville, Tennessee, step-daughter Deborah (Stephen) Lee of Atlanta , granddaughter Elizabeth Lee of Atlanta, several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 2-4 Sunday, July 14 at the First Centenary United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 pm Sunday at the church with Dr. Steve Byrum and Dr. Doug Fairbanks officiating.

Interment will be 10:00 am Monday at Jones Chapel United Methodist Church in Riceville, Tennessee.
