

“Friendly” John E. Fry, Jr. age 85, of Chattanooga died peacefully at his residence surrounded by family and close friends. He was born on August 28, 1928 to the late John E. Fry Sr. and Elizabeth Fry. He graduated from Central High School in 1947. Mr. Fry was a veteran having served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict aboard an Aircraft Carrier. He was a State Farm Agent for 61 years and operated a State Farm Agency in East Ridge since 1952. He was a member of Woodland Park Baptist Church. Mr. Fry loved boating and he was an avid collector of antique automobiles. He was a member of the Chattanooga Half Century Club and the American Legion Post 95. He was a former member of the East Ridge Kiwanis Club and he was a Mason.
Preceded in death by wife, Greta Fry; son, John A. Fry.
Survived by stepson, Robert Parks; grandson, Jason (Tara) Fry; granddaughter, Jenna (Jerald) White; three great grandchildren, Bailey and Emily Fry and Jensen White and his “Sweetie” Bonnie Richey.
The family expresses gratitude to caregivers, Bonnie Parden, Peggy Fults. They also express their appreciation to Mr. Fry’s faithful and loyal office staff, Linda White, Lisa Hurley and Melissa Battles.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 1, 2013 at 1 PM at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Rev. David Stancil officiating. Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Chattanooga Area State Farm Agents. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 31, 2013 from 4 PM to 8 PM at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
