Julia Michon Groves, 93, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2010 in Old Hickory, TN. She was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church in Fort Oglethorpe. She had worked for Gordon’s Cleaners in St. Elmo for 10 years. She was a member of the VFW Post 4848 Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion Post 95 Ladies Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Millison R. “Duke” Groves.
Survivors include her son, Richard Groves of Old Hickory, TN; daughter, Barbara Ferris of Yellville, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Dan Nolan, III of Atlanta, GA, Christopher A. Long of Lansing, MI, Michael J. Long of Atlanta, GA, Rachael A. Foster of Atlanta, GA and Michael R. Groves of Old Hickory, TN; ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM Tuesday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM Monday at the funeral home.
