Katie Boyd Coulter

“Mrs. Katie” or “Momma Katie” had a smile that lit up a room and a laugh that was contagious. She was born and raised in East Ridge, Tennessee by Mollie (Gilbert) and E.A. Boyd, the founder and namesake of Boyd’s Speedway. She married the love of her life, Rick, in 1981. They were just shy of their 38 year wedding anniversary. Katie worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Reynolds until the birth of her only child, Kathie. She worked at McBrien Elementary as a volunteer and East Ridge Middle School as the ISS teacher. She worked tirelessly for her students and touched countless lives. Katie enjoyed traveling the south to different racetracks with Rick‘s teams and with friends that become family. As a child, she and her brother, Butch, were at the track every weekend helping their parents. She never met a stranger. Those that knew her are better because of her. Her grace, charm, and strength made her one of the finest ladies you ever met. Truly one of a kind. Our hearts are broken that you’re no longer here, but we rejoice that we will see you again.

A Celebration of Katie’s Life will be held in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Tuesday Dec 31, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends on Monday evening December 30, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
