He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and “Bill” Ownby.
Ken was an avid fisherman, a lifelong martial arts student, and a lover of all things Japanese. He also loved Mexican food. His granddaughters called him “Oji”. Ken was a lifelong University of Tennessee fan. In honor of his passion, attendees of his Celebration of Life service are encouraged to wear something orange.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Alyce; son, Chris (Kristin) Ownby; and granddaughters, Kendall and Lily Ownby, sister, Cindy (Larry) Shipp, nieces, Lori (Gary) McNabb, and Donna (Ronnie) Massey, nephews, Zach and Gage (Tara) McNabb, and Owen Massey, niece, Mattilee Massey.
A Celebration of Ken’s Life will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Belvoir Avenue on Friday, August 18th at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Christopher Sheets. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. Friday at the church.
Interment will be Friday, August 25, 2017 at 10:30 am in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
