

Laurine Genevieve Bennett Heideman, age 90, of East Ridge died Saturday, January 1, 2011 in Chattanooga. She was born in Sanilac County, Michigan in 1920. On finishing college she worked at a fruit brokerage firm in Detroit until 1943. In April of 1943 she married Rex L. Heideman and they moved to Port Huron, Michigan where Laurine worked at Chrysler Parts Plant in accounting/payroll.In 1948 they moved to Chattanooga, started a family having three daughters.
Laurine was involved for many years in Girl Scouts, PTA, and Brainerd Presbyterian Church. She was a supervisor of J. C. Penney Catalog from its beginnings at Eastgate Mall until retiring there after 19 years.
Upon retiring Laurine and Rex traveled extensively throughout the United States and the lower portion of Canada. In 1986 they became Charter Members of Trinity Presbyterian Church. In March of 2003, Laurine was presented with an Honorary Life Membership by the Presbyterian Women of the Presbyterian Church USA.
Laurine was preceded in death by her husband Rex L. Heideman, four brothers, two sisters and a grandson.
Survivors include her three daughters and their husbands Suzanne (Ed) Carr, Wilmington, Delaware, Lizabeth (John) Hartley of Nevada, and Debra (Rick)Smith of Chattanooga; two granddaughters Laura Carr and Stephanie England, great granddaughter Isabella Marie and great grandson Michael David.
Funeral Services will be held Monday January 3, 2011 at 2:00 pm in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Mills officiating. Private graveside will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the East Chapel from 4-6 Sunday evening.
