Mary Ruth Gaylor

Mary Ruth Gaylor, age 87, of Signal Mountain died Wednesday January 11, 2012 in a local health care facility. She was born December 24, 1924 in Harrogate, Tennessee, the daughter of the late William Garfield and Nelle (Kincaid) Meador. Mrs. Gaylor graduated from Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, TN with her Bachelor degree in education. She was a member of Signal Mountain Baptist Church for 50 years. Mrs. Gaylor taught school for over 30 years, most recently at East Ridge Middle School where she taught algebra. After their retirement she and her husband delivered meals on wheels for several years.

Survivors include her husband Avon M. Gaylor; children Gary Avon (Robin) Gaylor, Signal Mountain, Sue Gaylor (David) Boyd, Trussville, AL, William Joseph Gaylor, Chattanooga and John Quentin (Merry) Gaylor, Huntsville, AL; grandchildren Leigh-Ann Boyd (Dustin) Millican, Birmingham, AL, Brad Boyd, Tuscaloosa, AL, Drew Gaylor, Auburn, AL, Mary Claire Boyd, Trussville, AL, Katelyn Gaylor, Auburn, AL, Jesse Gaylor, Signal Mountain and Emily Gaylor, Signal Mountain; brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Sunday January 15, 2012 at 4:00 pm in the Signal Mountain Baptist Church with Rev. Sally Ensley officiating. A family interment will be Monday at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Signal Mountain Baptist Church from 2-4 Sunday.
