Ollie Cox, 92, of Rossville, GA, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2011, at her home. She was a member of First Christian Church. Mrs. Cox had taught Reading at Lee Highway Christian Academy and volunteered at the VA Clinic. During WWII she worked at the Oak Ridge, TN, plant to support the war effort. She was a survivor of breast cancer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lafayette Cox; son, James W. “Buddy” Cox; brother, Floyd Golston; sister, Reba Wakelyn.
Survivors include two sons, Ken Cox and Curtis Cox; four grandchildren, Nathan Cox, Amy Jackson, Mandi Abercrombie, and Stephen Cox; four great-grandchildren, Cory and Caden Cox, Emily Abercrombie, and Toby Cox; two sisters, Kathryn Owen and Christine Paul.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Thursday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road, with the Rev. Mike Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
