Robert Thayer Bell, 87, of East Ridge, TN passed away Monday, April 25, 2011. He was retired from Ragland Brothers Company and was a former member of the Ruritan Club, American Legion, Optimist Club, VFW and Lions Club. He was a Veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army as a sergeant.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Lois Bell, Parents, Robert Owen and Ida Lou Pelfrey Bell; two brothers, Charles Bell and Ed Bell; one sister, Dorothy Stanley.
Survivors include his son, Michael G. Bell of Gardendale, AL; daughter, Vicki Bell Rozema of Knoxville, TN; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Geneva Condra of Chattanooga and Barbara Coppins of Jacksonville, FL; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Wednesday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road with the Rev. John Andrus officiating. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
