Robert was born in Chattanooga to the late Colonel and Marie Shipley. He was a member of Summitt Baptist Church and retired after being owner and operator of Service Sheet Metal for 40 years. He enjoyed photography, woodworking, flying, traveling and riding his scooter on the Blue Ridge Parkway. He was a man always looking for adventure. He will long be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Juanita Respole.
Surviving are his daughters, Sheila (Mike) Stockard and Euneice (Mike) Martin; grandchildren, Michelle Bettis, Michael (Lisa) Sheets, Landon (Harmony) Martin, Jason (Jenny) Martin and Bliss (Jeremy) Welch; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM on Friday and 10 AM to 11 AM on Saturday at the funeral home.
Funeral Services will be at 11 AM on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at the funeral home with Rev. Dairrell Cranford officiating.
Burial will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens South.
