Russell was a graduate of Central High School and the University of Chattanooga. He had also served in the Army Reserve.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Gaylor C. Raley; his best friend, Betty Moore; and grandson, Christopher Hayden Russell Bonine.
Survivors include his daughter, Heather Holder; grandchildren, Kinsleigh Hise and Kaylen Hise; sister, Lorraine Bates; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at 2:30 pm at Greenwood Cemetery.
Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory, and Florist. 404 South Moore Road.
