Susan Kay Hicks Steakley, 71, of Ringgold, GA, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 24, 2015. She suffered for several years with Parkinson’s disease, but died suddenly at her home. A lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area, she was a graduate of City High School, and attended University of Chattanooga. She served as the secretary at J.M. Steakley & Son Plumbing and was also a member of the Ringgold United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Chattanooga Theater Centre Associates and the Chattanooga Opera Guild.
She was preceded in death by her parents Mildred, Duke, and Wilma Hicks. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, James K. (Kit) Steakley, Jr.; a son James K. (Tripp) Steakley, III, a daughter Kay (James) Hardeman, Ringgold, GA and; four grandchildren, Graham, Kendal, Matthew and Allison; one great-grandchild, Makinley; sister, Sara (Robert) Richey, Chattanooga; several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather Monday at 2 p.m. at Forest Hills Cemetery for graveside services with Rev. Ronald Ragon officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3-6 p.m. and 10-12 noon on Monday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 404 S. Moore Road.
