Vernon Benjamin “Barney” Pearson, 59, of Chattanooga passed away Thursday, March 7, 2013 in a local hospital. He was a graduate of ECPI and UTC with a Bachelor of Science in Business. He was a computer programmer at Buster Brown and Southwest Motor Freight and taught Computer Science at ECPI on Brainerd Road. He was an avid sports fan and followed Alabama and UTC sports. His hobbies included fishing and boating and last spring he appeared as an extra in the movie “42”. He was a local musician and song writer, a huge music fan and in the 1970’s was a member of a local band, “Eclipse”
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon H. and Jo Ann Pearson, a brother, Gilbert H. Pearson and a sister, Dana Leigh Pearson Knox.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Carter Pearson; brother, Richard M. Pearson; two brothers in law, Thomas D. (Judy) Carter and James Price Carter; one niece, Alexandra Pearson; two nephews, Chad (Candace) Boeninger and Zac (Jennifer) Carter.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Sunday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road. Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
