Virginia Ard Cooper Goodman, 88, of Rossville, GA passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013. She had been a bookkeeper for South Carolina State Rep. Abney Smith in Charleston, SC., Alvin Mashburn Heavy Equipment Company in Ringgold, GA and Alabama Furniture Company in Chattanooga.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph O. Cooper, Sr.; second husband, Robert L. “Bob” Goodman; son, Jerry Cooper; sister, Lureane Douglas; four brothers, Emmett Ard, Richard Ard, Clyde W. Ard and Leonard Ard.
Survivors include her children, Peggy (Bill) Armour, Joseph (Janet) Cooper and Dot (Dearl) Lawton; eleven grandchildren; twenty two great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren; one sister, Jo Ann King; one brother, John H. Ard; many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 12:30 PM Monday, May 20, 2013 at Chattanooga National Cemetery with the Rev. J. Dwight Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM Sunday and from 10AM -12 PM Monday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 404 South Moore Road.
