Mr. Dye was a retired in 1974 from the United States Air Force. He served in Thailand, Japan, England, Germany and the United States. He was a member of the NCO (Non-Commission Officers. He was a former Golden Gloves boxing coach and was an alumni and past member of the board of directors for the Tennessee Preparatory School (TPS).
His brother, Richard Delon Dye preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Kinuko Shimizu Dye; daughter, Terri (Gary) Stewart, of Mesquite, Texas; grandchildren, James Stewart of Garland, Texas; and Brandy Stewart of Austin, Texas; brother, Maurice L. Dye of Savannah, Georgia; sister, Patsy Dye Perkins of Atlanta, Georgia; niece, Mary Elizabeth Dye; and great-nephews, Shea and Coty Simpson all of Portland, Tennessee.
A memorial service will be held Monday at 2:30 p.m. in the East Chapel with David Lewis officiating. Interment will be held at Chattanooga Memorial Park.
