
Anna Marie Wright, 71 of East Bangor, passed away on Saturday morning, January 11, 2014 at the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of Alfred Wright with whom she spent 51 years of marriage.
Born in Foxtown, PA on September 21, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Ferdinand and Henrietta Vallozzi.
Anna Marie graduated from Hempfield High School, in Greensburg, PA in 1959. She met and married her husband in 1962 while staying with her oldest brother Eugene, in Ohio. While living in Ohio she owned and operated a catering business specializing in Italian foods and pastries. In 1971 she moved with her family to Pennsylvania and worked as a seamstress for numerous sewing mills and also had her own seamstress business. In 1975 she continued her education at the Stroudsburg School of Cosmetology. Following her graduation from cosmetology school she owned and operated three beauty salons in the Slate Belt area for over 20 years.
Anna Marie was active in her children’s lives and community over the years. She was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader, group leader of the Beauty Belles for the East Bangor Bicentennial and a representative to a congressional committee for small business leaders in Washington, DC. Most recently Anna was an Avon representative and owner of multiple booths at the Wind Gap indoor flea market where she enjoyed spending time with many caring friends.
Anna loved to cook, sew, garden, and spend time with her family. She looked forward to her weekly long distance chats with her loving sister Ginny and was a doting mother and especially grandmother.
She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend and will be deeply missed by those who knew her.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents was siblings: Eugene, Sylvester, Julia, and Elvira.
Surviving in addition to her husband, is her son Richard “Rick” Wright of East Bangor; and daughter,
Debi Kendrick and her husband Mark, and their two daughters, Maddison and Maci of Stroudsburg; sisters, Madeline Testa and Virginia Cammarata both of Greensburg, PA and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services with a celebration of her life will be private and held at the convenience of the immediate family.
